Participation of the Sawtooth National Forest in the World Winter Games began with the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, held in both Ketchum and Hailey, Idaho. Law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes from around the world wound their way through the Wood River Valley carrying the Flame of Hope. The Torch Run is a grass-roots fundraiser that has raised millions of dollars. The run began at Hemingway Elementary School and stopped at Dollar Mountain. It then continued on to Wood River High School and ended at Woodside Elementary School. This first picture is a shot of the Torch Run arriving at Dollar Mountain.
